As the first point of contact for our guests, the Dockhand at IGY Savannah Harbor Marina sets the tone for an exceptional experience. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and engaging individual to welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and a can-do attitude. The Dockhand plays a vital role in providing superior service, ensuring safe and efficient dock operations, and embodying our commitment to excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Provide a warm, enthusiastic welcome to guests upon arrival and assist with docking, undocking, and securing vessels.
  • Assist vessels in mooring operations, securing vessels to docks, connecting and monitoring utility services (telephone, power, and water), performing pump outs, waste disposal and facility sanitation.
  • Participate in fuel operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Escort guest around the marina using company vehicles or golf carts
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of marina docks and marina facilities
  • Expedites all requests from vessels including escorting incoming marina guests to/from yachts, assisting with luggage, and offering information pertaining to available services and facilities of marina (provisioning, laundry, luggage transport, etc.).
  • Responsible for keeping company vehicles, tenders, and golf carts clean, charged, and maintained where applicable.
  • Ensures that recognized standards are maintained, and that quality and delivery commitments are met.
  • Adheres to and upholds all marina health and life-safety protocols and actively participates in all related training exercises and drills.
  • Provides general security and supports marina and facility security teams in their security related efforts; reports disturbances in dock area to superiors and maintains general vigilance.
  • Maintains VHF radio and in-person communication with vessels, marina office and marina management.

Qualifications/Experience:

 Education/Experience:

Previous marina or boating experience preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

About the POSITION:

Summary:

The Dockmaster is responsible for overseeing all daily marina dock operations, ensuring safe, secure, efficient, and profitable activities while enforcing IGY Savannah Harbor Marina policies and procedures. As a key leader in marina operations and guest services, the Dockmaster manages dockside services, assists with all guest needs, and upholds IGY’s customer service standards. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing an exceptional marina experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating activities of the marina regarding vessel communication, slip assignments, arrivals/departures, and short-term dockage, vessel fueling, as well as all other daily marina operations.
  • Ensures all established marina policies and procedures are adhered to, ensures any violations are communicated to the General Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Works with the General Manager to develop and execute a high level of customer service and hospitality.
  • Answer guests’ complaints and resolve problems in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensures that meter reads are accurate and completed according to schedule.
  • Oversees dock staff scheduling and performance, in conjunction with the General Manager, to ensure that the marina is always sufficiently staffed, and all employees are following company guidelines related to appearance, punctuality, and behavior.
  • Ensure all dock staff are properly trained in all aspects of their respective duties including the fueling of vessels, pump outs, and docking support.
  • Performs dock walks to check accuracy of the day’s reservation log, address any repair issues or safety hazards, and ensure the marina cleanliness is up to standards.

Summary:

Responsible for the overall management of the marina and upland property to ensure safe, secure, efficient and profitable operations while enforcing the company’s policies and procedures established at the property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Work with executive management in developing and implementing strategic direction for the property and its businesses.
  • Develop/lead marketing indicatives for the retail component of the property.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive operating plans for the properties including all program requirements, labor hours, cost controls and operating costs.
  • Responsible for all financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Oversight of all capital projects, maintenance personnel, and workers engaged in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventative maintenance.
  • Work with corporate personnel in negotiating tenant leases and lease renewals.

Education/Experience:

  • Certified Marina Manager (CMM) desired and/or a combination of 5 years of service experience in increasingly complex roles, including supervisory experience.
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet/word processing software packages; intermediate skills in PowerPoint and/or graphics/publication software and Outlook.
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
